HerzRing Health Connect Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the HerzRing app (provided by HerzRing LLC) accesses and handles your health data through Android Health Connect. It supplements the main HerzRing Privacy Policy, which governs your HerzRing account and any data synced to the HerzRing backend.

1. Health data HerzRing writes to Health Connect

With your permission, and while Health Connect sync is on, HerzRing writes the measurements collected by your ring:

Heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO₂), sleep and sleep stages, steps, blood pressure, body temperature, blood glucose.
Workouts — the exercise session and its GPS route, distance, and calories.

HerzRing does not write heart-rate variability, stress, or ECG to Health Connect.

2. Health data HerzRing reads from Health Connect

With your permission, HerzRing reads the following types that other apps wrote to Health Connect, to enrich your history: heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO₂), sleep, steps, blood pressure, body temperature, blood glucose. Workout data is export-only — HerzRing does not read exercise, distance, or calorie records from Health Connect. HerzRing identifies the origin of each record and does not re-import data it wrote itself.

3. Why HerzRing uses each type

Writing: to make your ring's measurements available in other health apps you choose (for example Samsung Health), so heart rate, SpO₂, sleep, steps, blood pressure, temperature, glucose, and workouts can be seen together.
Reading: to give you a fuller health history inside HerzRing by including matching measurements from your other apps and devices.

HerzRing uses Health Connect data only for these user-facing features.

4. When data is exchanged, including in the background

After you enable sync, HerzRing exports new measurements to Health Connect automatically in the background (about every 6 hours) and also when you tap Sync now or open the app.
Reading from Health Connect happens only in the foreground (when you open the app or tap Sync now). HerzRing does not read health data in the background.

5. Sharing

Enabling Health Connect makes your data available only to the apps you yourself authorize in Health Connect. HerzRing does not otherwise share your Health Connect data with any third party. Separately, your measurements also sync to your HerzRing account on our backend; that processing, including any service providers, is described in the main HerzRing Privacy Policy.

6. What HerzRing will never do with this data

HerzRing does not:

sell your health data or transfer it for any monetary consideration;
use it for advertising or personalized/interest-based ads, or share it with data brokers or advertising networks;
use it to determine creditworthiness, lending, insurance eligibility, or employment.

7. Security

Health Connect data is stored on your device in Android's encrypted Health Connect store.
Any transmission to the HerzRing backend uses HTTPS/TLS; the app blocks cleartext traffic.
Data stored by HerzRing (on your device and on the backend) is access-controlled and encrypted, and we follow secure development practices.

8. Data retention

Data written to Health Connect is retained and controlled by Health Connect, not by HerzRing.
HerzRing does not keep a separate copy of data solely because it passed through Health Connect.
Measurements HerzRing stores (on your device and on your account) are retained per the retention period stated in the main HerzRing Privacy Policy.

9. Your control and deletion

Health Connect sync is off by default, opt-in, and selectable per data type.
You can revoke HerzRing's access at any time in Health Connect or the system Health permissions screen; revoking stops all reading and writing.
Delete data: records in Health Connect are deleted within Health Connect; HerzRing's stored measurements can be deleted in the app, including the "delete ring data" option.
Delete your account: you can delete your HerzRing account in the app, which erases your account and its associated data on our backend. You may also request deletion by emailing us (below).
